MINUTES OF PAA MEETING October 7, 2008

Attendance: Larry Fisher, Marie J. Meehan, Laurie LeBlanc, Dan Thornton, Elaine Poretta, Cindy Adams, Phyllis Nolan, Marie Pinzone, Katy Harrison, Beth Silva, Nancy Modlish, Jen Fiore

LARRY FISHER started the meeting with the Treasurer’s Report. Laurie LeBlanc, treasurer, had a question about the cost of the sport books. There seemed to be a jump from $1700 to $3100. Was told to talk to Janice Littrell.

DAN THORNTON

Lynn Viselli emailed Dan Thornton about Super Fan T-Shirts that Basketball Boosters have been selling the last few years. Basketball Boosters would like to turn this fundraiser over the PAA. We voted and we agreed to take it over. The shirts cost $8.00 to make and we will sell for $15.00.

Spinathon was rescheduled to November 14, 2008. Larry Fisher talked about coming up with incentives to get more kids involved. Also talked about getting information on this out to the public. Talked about advertising in the local papers.

Trainer’s Room: Trainer’s room has been taken by Special Ed so trainer is in a closet between main gym and small gym; Talked about privacy issues with health records. Situation unacceptable. Talked about ways of getting situation rectified. I THINK THAT DAN THORNTON DID E-MAIL EVERYONE THAT SITUATION IS BEING TAKEN CARE OF AND SHOULD BE DONE BY DECEMBER 1, 2008.

Press Box on Football Field: Cindy Adams has a friend at Johnson Lumber willing to donate lumber to fix press box. Looking for parent volunteers to help with labor. Talked about Tech Ed drawing up plans for new press box. Must be submitted to the School Committee before anything can be done.

Landing Pad for Poll Vault: The landing pad for poll vaulting had been thrown out per order of the health inspector. The cost to replace it is approx. $10,000.00 and then we have the issue of where do we store it? Some wondered if it was worth spending such a large amount of money on something that maybe 10 kids use.

Football Boosters are selling raffle tickets for $100 with a first prize of $10,000, second prize of $2,000 and third prize of $500.00. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Already have 50 tickets sold. Tickets available at Slobans, Long Hill Orchard, or from Sean Brennan.

Talked about the recent meeting regarding the current drug and alcohol policy at Pentucket. Most felt that the new policy being discussed (a 45-day suspension from sport) was too much.
