PAA Minutes October 10^th, 2007

AD’s Report

• Field Hockey Goalie Equipment purchased for $690.65 out of athletic budget which will be reimbursed by PAA.
• New lights in gym have been installed. Thanks to Larry Fisher doing that.
• Steve Derro, the track coach, approached PAA about new uniforms for the track team. Uniforms for winter and spring track are worn out. Approximate cost would be about $3,000. Those present voted to approve this expenditure – motion passed, with one member opposing the motion.

      (PAA has asked the AD to draw up a list of all teams to ascertain when new

      uniforms were last purchased for each team)

• Baseball and softball pitches in bad shape. PVC drainage pipe is being replaced and new sod is being brought in to improve the field.
• AD has been approached about putting a logo on football helmets…we need to talk about logos to be used for apparel, equipment etc.
• Spin Out - Latitude Sports Club…holding a fundraiser to benefit community schools (Pentucket, Amesbury, Newburyport and Triton).  A 24 hour spin bike relay event will be held Nov 16. The idea is to have teams of 12 who take turns riding the spin bike for 24 hours; each team member pays $100 to participate. Money raised would benefit the Athletic Departments at the various schools. If you are interested please contact Eric Weaver at Latitude Sports in Salisbury.
• AD needs info about the Sports Jackets which have to be ordered for Varsity Athletes.
• Projects: asking Whittier Tech students to assist in repairing the press box and the dug outs.

 
 

PAA Agenda

• Sports Book

      We need to establish a set deadline for all sports team photos to be taken. Fall

      books were held up because of the delay in the Field Hockey and Golf photos.

      80 books were distributed and another 250 will be available by Friday, October

      12^th.

• Cheerleaders

      Coach was under the impression they could not ask PAA for anything.

      The AD will try and inform coaches at the beginning of the season about the 

      possibility of coming to PAA to ask for funding of uniforms or equipment.

• Concession Stand

       Request has been made to add mint life savors to the candy list.

       Set up a time to paint the stand.

• Snack Machine

      Who owns the snack machine located near the coke machines? Who stocks it

      and who collects the $$$$?

• Basketball Backboards and Rims

              Ivars Jakobsons submitted a request for $2,000 for 4 basketball backboards and

              4 breakaway rims for the school gym.

        Motion approved.

• Banquets

    Dr. Livingston would prefer not to have pot luck banquet dinners on school   

      property as has been the custom in the past due to the health risks involved

      Banquets can either be held on or off campus, with the preference that they are

      catered.  Dan Thornton will be advising the captains of this new policy in the  

      next few weeks as the Fall season draws to a close and banquets have to be

      organized.
