MINUTES OF PAA MEETING November 17, 2009
Attendance: Larry Fisher, Marie J. Meehan, Dan Thornton, Elaine Poretta, Laurie LeBlanc, Cindy Adams, Dave Fudge, Jola McCarthy
Sports Books: Sales are down but with the price increase we are doing okay. We ordered 300 and 170 have been sold.
BOTH ELAINE PORETTA AND RENEE LLORENTE HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR WISH TO STEP DOWN FROM THEIR DUTIES REGARDING THE SPORT BOOKS. ELAINE IS WILLING TO STAY ON ONE MORE YEAR WITH SOMEONE SHADOWING HER. We are looking for volunteers to fill these positions. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Elaine Poretta @ nat1098@comcast.net
Money from fundraisers and sport books: Someone brought up the subject of where monies go from fundraisers. It was her perception that all money came to PAA and that some people were confused about what happens with the monies collected from the sale of the sport books. She thought that there should be more advertising of what PAA does with monies raised. As far as fundraisers, we clarified that PAA has nothing to do with the different sport booster groups. They are separate and do not have to report what they do with the money they raise. That brought up the subject of bringing all the sport booster groups into the PAA, having just one booster group for all sports. Discussions will be had at the next few meetings as to what that would entail. We invite a representative from the different booster groups to attend the next few meetings for the discussion.
Fundraisers: Girls Basketball asked for permission to have a raffle during the Tip Off Tournament that they are hosting this year. PAA approved.
Hockey boosters will be having a calendar sale. Calendars will sell for $20.00 and hockey will keep $10 of sale. PAA approved.
Football Concession Stand:
CHRIS PINZONE WILL BE STEPPING DOWN FROM RUNNING THE FOOTBALL CONCESSION STAND. We are looking for someone to fill this position. If you are interested contact Larry Fisher lsfisher.electric@comcast.net or Dan Thornton @ dthornton@prsd.org.
Apparel: As a follow up from our October meeting, Monique Swansen submitted an e-mail with information
on apparel.
Fundraisers for PAA:
Dave Fudge is introducing the idea of a
5K Pentucket Pride road race during the months of Sept Oct or Nov next year. He
is looking into the running calendar to check for conflicts with other races. It would rotate between towns every
year. Was thinking it would be a fun
thing to do during Spirit Week.
Also brought samples of
stickers with Sachems, PRHS etc. for your car.
Would sell for $2-3. Cost is $.47
or so. We all thought these would be a
good seller.
Also brought pictures of
braided green and white necklaces (baseball player type) which could sell for
$5-6.
Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
