MINUTES OF PAA MEETING January 14, 2009

Attendance: Larry Fisher, Marie J. Meehan, Laurie LeBlanc, Dan Thornton, Jill Daamen

Brett LeFlem from Varsity Gold attended the meeting to give an overview of the fundraiser that the baseball team is looking to do in the spring. It is a $20 card with discounts at restaurants, golf courses, etc. After his presentation, we all realized that it is different from the soccer gold card and that it wouldn’t conflict with that fundraiser. It was discussed that the softball team might be involved as well in the fundraiser. Dan Thornton was going to discuss with Coach L’Italian. Said fundraiser was approved.

Hockey team wants to sell tickets at Chunky’s Cinema. The tickets would sell for $7.00 and the team gets $3.50 from every sale. Said fundraiser was approved.

Winter sport books are on sale. They are available at the basketball concession stand and at all the winter sporting events.

Super Fan Shirts – Trying to decide whether to order new shirts. Basketball asking if PAA will front cost. Suggestion made to sell the old shirts at cost.

PAA gives out scholarships each year to four senior athletes, 2 male and 2 female. We are looking for volunteers for the Scholarship Committee. The job entails reviewing essays submitted and the selection of the winners. Please let Larry Fisher or Marie Meehan know if you are interested.

Dan Thornton went to AD convention in San Diego. Took a tour of fields around San Diego area. Also attended a law seminar and learned about safety around sporting facilities and what to look into as far as any liability for the district.

Discussion was had about the banners in the gym. Dan said the lift was going to be at the school for another project and that while it was there we could use it to straighten the banners.
