MINUTES OF PAA MEETING April 1, 2009
Attendance: Larry Fisher, Marie J. Meehan, Dan Thornton, Renee Llorente, Elaine Poretta and Marie Pinzone
Alan Boisvert owner of Keon’s 105 Bistro in Haverhill came to talk to the PAA about a fundraiser that some of the local elementary schools are participating in. He has written a cookbook with recipes from the restaurant. The cost of the cookbook is $21.95 and he will donate $5.00 from each sale to PAA. He was also willing to sign the cookbooks. We talked about how we would facilitate such a fundraiser and Dan Thornton suggested setting something up in the teacher’s lounge to start. We then discussed getting someone from PAA to coordinate this fundraiser.
Dan Thornton brought up the subject of the $20 fundraising cards being sold by the baseball team. There were complaints from some of the parents because they were told that the fundraiser was mandatory and that each player had to sell 20 cards. Dan has addressed the issue with the coach that no fundraiser is mandatory and no set amount of cards need to be sold by any player.
Girls’ tennis team wanted approval for a fundraiser to sell raffle tickets to win Bruins tickets to buy sweatshirts. Fundraiser was approved.
Track Team asked to sell candy to by T-shirts. Fundraiser was approved.
Just a reminder that PAA meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the high school café or small conference room next to the assistant principal’s office.
Track Pad: The PAA approved to give $2,500 to the track team for a new pole vault pad. The actual cost of the pad was $3374.95. Coach Derro paid the difference of $874.95 and asked for reimbursement from PAA. PAA voted and approved to reimburse Coach Derro the difference of $874.95.
Boys tennis team wants $ for indoor court time @ Newburyport Tennis and Racquet Club for rainy practice days. The cost is $300 for 5 days. Coach Langlois also paid for this in advance and was looking for reimbursement. PAA voted and approved that we should reimburse Coach Langlois the $300.00.
Suggestion was made to work on a current e-mail address list for PAA. Discussion led to the idea of putting a section on the sport sign up sheet for parent’s e-mail addresses.
Spinathon. Still waiting to hear how much money Pentucket will be received from the event. Dan Thornton sent an e-mail to inquire. Will keep you posted.
